After nearly four weeks offline, PokerStars is back in Ontario — but it is a different product, on a different platform, under a different brand.

PokerStars on FanDuel Ontario officially went live on June 5, 2026, two days later than originally planned, in a soft-launch phase. The platform marks the end of PokerStars as a standalone product in the province and the beginning of its integration into Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel ecosystem — the same model already live in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania since April 1.

Here is everything Ontario poker players need to know.

What Happened — The Full Timeline

March 3, 2026: Flutter Entertainment announces PokerStars will relaunch exclusively within the FanDuel platform in the US and Ontario. Both brands are Flutter properties. The announcement confirms a unified wallet covering poker, casino and sports betting under one FanDuel login.

April 1, 2026: PokerStars on FanDuel launches in the United States — Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Positive reception from US players, setting the stage for Ontario.

May 7, 2026: PokerStars Ontario shuts down its existing platform entirely. Poker, casino and sports betting products go offline. Players are given until June 4 to withdraw remaining funds. Any unclaimed balances after June 4 are sent by cheque.

June 3, 2026: The originally confirmed Ontario relaunch date. Delayed two days as Flutter works through final provincial regulatory requirements with the AGCO.

June 5, 2026: PokerStars on FanDuel Ontario goes live in soft-launch phase — two days late but fully operational. Ontario has a new home for regulated online poker.

What Is PokerStars on FanDuel?

PokerStars on FanDuel is not a skin or a minor rebrand. It is a fundamentally different platform — new software, new client, new infrastructure — that replaces the standalone PokerStars Ontario product entirely.

The core elements:

One wallet, three verticals: Players access poker, casino and sports betting through a single FanDuel account and a single balance. No separate logins, no transfers between wallets.

New software platform: The PokerStars client Ontario players have used for years is gone. The new platform carries different interface design, different lobby structure and different tournament software.

Bigger tournament guarantees: Flutter has committed to larger guaranteed prize pools on the new platform — a competitive response to GGPoker Ontario, which has been the market leader during PokerStars’ absence.

AGCO regulated: PokerStars on FanDuel Ontario is fully licensed and regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, operating within iGaming Ontario’s regulated framework.

What Existing PokerStars Players Need to Do

This is the most important section for anyone who played on PokerStars Ontario before May 7.

Your old PokerStars account is gone. Account histories, screen names, VIP statuses and loyalty points from the old PokerStars Ontario platform have not been transferred to the new system. This is a clean break.

If you do not have a FanDuel account: You need to create a new FanDuel account and register for poker within it. You can choose a new screen name.

If you already have a FanDuel account: Log in to your existing FanDuel account and add poker — you simply need to select a screen name for the poker product. Your existing FanDuel wallet is already live.

If you left funds in your old PokerStars account and did not withdraw before June 4: Unclaimed balances will be sent to you by cheque. Contact PokerStars Ontario support if you have not received communication about your balance.

FanDuel welcome offers: Both new PokerStars sign-ups on FanDuel and existing PokerStars customers migrating to the new platform are eligible for welcome offers. Check current terms at the FanDuel site before registering.

The No Sweat Series — C$100,000 in Freerolls

To mark the Ontario launch, PokerStars on FanDuel is running the No Sweat Series from June 8–14, distributing C$100,000 in tournament tickets as a freeroll promotional campaign for new and returning players.

This is the primary incentive for early adopters to register in the first two weeks. The No Sweat Series represents genuine tournament ticket value for Ontario poker players at no cost — a standard Flutter launch promotion that mirrors the Founders Table promo run ahead of the US launch.

Why This Is Bigger Than a Rebrand

The PokerStars-FanDuel merger is the latest chapter in a period of significant market consolidation in Ontario’s regulated iGaming market. The merger means Ontario’s licensed operator count has dropped to 45 active licensed operators.

For serious poker players, the more consequential development is happening in the courts. The Ontario Court of Appeal ruled in a precedent-setting legal opinion that players in the province could play peer-to-peer games, like online poker and daily fantasy sports, against players outside of Canada. The Supreme Court of Canada is expected to review this ruling — and if the ruling is upheld, it could open international liquidity for Ontario poker players for the first time. That would be transformative for the province’s online poker market.

FanDuel’s infrastructure — already connecting players across Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in the US — positions it as the obvious beneficiary if international liquidity opens to Ontario.

What It Means for Ontario Poker Players

Positive developments:

  • PokerStars is back — Ontario’s most recognised poker brand is operational again after four weeks offline
  • One wallet covers poker, casino and sports betting — genuine convenience for multi-vertical players
  • Bigger tournament guarantees than the old standalone platform

  • AGCO regulated — full Ontario consumer protection framework applies

Points of caution:

  • New accounts required — existing PokerStars histories, screen names and loyalty status not transferred
  • New software — learning curve for long-term PokerStars users familiar with the old client
  • International liquidity still pending Supreme Court review — Ontario poker pools remain province-only for now
  • Soft launch phase — some features may still be in rollout during June
